Sermon Illustration 10.12.08
October 16th, 2008 :: By Carl :: More: Redeemer Memphis, sketches
Here’s this week’s.

Here’s this week’s.

Sorry I’m a little late. Here’s last week’s illustration… this week’s to come soon.
Just wanted to show what’s on the drawing board these days. One of my favorite subjects…

I think the road of every Memphis artist travels through Elvis. It’s a rite of passage we all must wrestle with … which Elvis is your Elvis?
Here’s mine. A wood block print created for the 2002 Tupelo Elvis Festival poster.
I’ve increasingly taken notice of random art and design elements laying around that’re leftovers of projects I’ve completed. Photos, woodcuts, paintings, print proofs, posters and other stuff that I need to find a home for. I’ll post ‘em under this category. Lemme know if you’re interested in anything you see, let’s make a deal!

Okay, so I missed most of the service at Redeemer due to helping with the children’s class. While I wasn’t able to illustrate the sermon this week, I did attempt a little inspirational illustration for the kids, à la crayon.

Here’s this week’s strange illustration. Sorry for the cramped space. I hope to have more room to play with in a bigger sketchbook next week.

Taking a page from prolific Illustrator John Hendrix … I drew in church Sunday.

This one for Westminster Academy never quite got implemented. One of the reasons it ended up in a file somewhere may have been the lack of a dynamic, conceptually reinforcing, simple secondary mark.
Oh well. Win some, lose some.

I’ve been working on this logo design, for Texas A&M’s Biological Engineering Sensor Technologies (BEST) Lab, over the last few months. I think we’re close to finishing up.
Just wanted to show y’all an example of what a late phase of the brand development process resulted in on this project.
Anybody got a more exciting name for this phase than the “image refinement/type & color options phase?”
